Friends Forever...

I had been planning a trip for a while.

A trip that was to reunite three friends from middle school.

A trip that would take us to a new city, to see new sites, and eat yummy foods.

A trip I was to leave for tomorrow. While Max is still in the hospital.

But, these friends, they know me. And they know that I would feel torn about leaving my little guy while he's in the hospital. Do I need a vacation? Oh, probably more than anyone else I know. But, my boy needs me here. I need to be here with him.

So these friends emailed me and told me it's more than okay to stay with him. The big apple will still be there, and we'll all still be ready to go.

Feeling terribly bummed that I am not going, but also incredibly thankful for friends who get the pull and made it an easier decision.

I guess that's what comes from having friends "forever".

My precious...

My boy is in the hospital for surgery tomorrow on his abdomen to fix the problem that got him a nearly 3 week stay last December. We will be updating his page Monster Max most frequently through our stay.

On living forever and ever...

One of the strange things about living in the world is that it is only now and then one is quite sure one is going to live forever and ever and ever. One knows it sometimes when one gets up at the tender solemn dawn-time and goes out and stands alone and throws one's head far back and looks up and up and watches the pale sky slowly changing and flushing and marvelous unknown things happening until the East almost makes one cry out and one's heart stands still at the strange unchanging majesty of the rising of the sun—which has been happening every morning for thousands and thousands and thousands of years.

One knows it then for a moment or so. And one knows it sometimes when one stands by oneself in a wood at sunset and the mysterious deep gold stillness slanting through and under the branches seems to be saying slowly again and again something one cannot quite hear, however much one tries. Then sometimes the immense quiet of the dark blue at night with millions of stars waiting and watching makes one sure; and sometimes a sound of far-off music makes it true; and sometimes a look in some one's eyes.

Neglected...

Do you feel neglected and forgotten? I've been over at Max's blog lately updating. If you haven't visited over there lately, you can get caught up on what has been going on with us.

Max was in the hospital last week. The same thing our guy had to have surgery for this past December happened again. The doctors were able to avoid surgery this time, but because it's now happened twice, they will have to find a longterm fix. He has an appointment with his surgeon next week to see what can be done. It will most likely mean more surgery.

Thankfully, Mr. Hotshot is doing good now, although not liking these super hot days we've been having already. His sister gets here this week, so things are about to get extra fun!

I'll try to get back over here soon. Balancing the beginning of summer, hospital stays and doctors appointments is taking a lot of time...and I am trying to at least keep his blog updated so all his fans are in the know. Come on over to www.maxwatson.org if you want to follow along.

Now to leave you with a flashback...
